CURRICULUM AT S.A.V. JAIN DAY BOARDING SCHOOL

The Main Aims and Objectives of the Institute

The main objective of education is not only to give students worldly knowledge or award degrees and certificates but to develop their all-round personality. Childhood is the time of remarkable physical, cognitive, social and emotional development. Our institute imparts education that enables students to develop unique personality traits, a genuine spirit of cooperation, team spirit, social service and dignity of labour. Keeping these developments in mind, the S.A.N. Jain Sabha (Regd.) has established this school to achieve the following aims and objectives:

Classes (K1 to K3)

Learning at this stage is experiential, fun & activity based. The pedagogical processes followed are based on developmentally appropriate pragmatic and radical methods with multiple teaching and learning strategies. Our school is the central figure and an active participant in the teaching learning process. Kids enjoy the freedom to explore, express, create and interact within the environment and gain knowledge appropriate to their age.

Classes (1st to 5th)

At this stage too, the curriculum supports children’s learning by focusing on conceptual clarity by relating learning to everyday life, developing thinking and analytical skills. The curriculum also nurtures the affective domain through subjects and activities that develop self-awareness, effective communication skills and emotional strength.

The learning areas include:

  1. Languages (English, Hindi, Punjabi) – listening, speaking, reading, writing, vocabulary and interpersonal communication.
  2. Mathematics – operations of numbers, shapes, similarities, differences and patterns.
  3. EVS/Science – awareness of surroundings and sensitivity to environmental issues.
  4. Information & Communication Technology
  5. Visual Arts & Performing Arts
  6. Life Skills & Value Education

Students also participate in Dance, Music, Art and Craft, Sports, competitions, inter-house activities and social awareness campaigns.

Classes (6th to 8th)

The main aim at this level is to provide in-depth knowledge of every concept. Smart classes make teaching interactive and enhance comprehension. Homework is generally given as stimulating revision worksheets. Stress is laid on spoken English, pronunciation, reading and writing skills. The curriculum helps students think intensively and critically.

Languages

Self-study is inculcated with a focus on language and literature. Students comprehend and analyze literary elements, developing literary skills and vocabulary.

Mathematics

Students learn in a stimulating environment where they analyze, understand and evaluate concepts while teachers develop their mathematical skills.

Science

Science builds knowledge through testable explanations and experimentation. It is divided into Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Exhibitions and inter-school competitions encourage practical project designing and working models.

Social Science

Students explore human society, socio-cultural behavior and geography through cross-cultural events. The subject includes History, Civics and Geography, supported by smart classes.

General Knowledge and Value Education

We provide value-based education that shapes the future and adds purpose to life. General Knowledge and life skills are imparted through activities, books and sessions.

Classes (9th to 10th)

The School envisions the all-round development of students through a holistic approach, integrating curricular and co-curricular domains. The secondary curriculum provides a broad and balanced understanding of languages, Mathematics, Science and Social Science, following CBSE guidelines and connecting learning with real-life contexts.

Students also acquire knowledge and skills in Health and Physical Education, Life Skills, Values Education, Art Education, Work Education and other co-scholastic areas.
